When someone in Washington is arrested and charged with a criminal offense, they are presumed innocent unless and until it is proven they are guilty. Unfortunately, just being arrested and accused of a crime can potentially throw an innocent person’s life upside down. Recently in Seattle, police apprehended two men who allegedly led them on a car-chase through a park before crashing in a creek.

Incident details

According to reports, police believed the two men were involved in recent armed robberies and were observing them when they apparently fled in a car. Reports said officers eventually blocked the suspects’ vehicle in the entrance of Beach Park, and the suspects drove into the park to a back parking lot and through a walking trail toward Puget Sound. Reportedly, they then attempted to cross a pedestrian bridge in the vehicle when it crashed into Des Moines Creek.

Police said they arrested both men and took them into custody without injury. Police also claimed the car the suspects were in was stolen. Apparently, the specific charges the men will face are still being determined. Reports said Seattle detectives continue to investigate the crash scene and vehicle.

Help is available for those accused

Unfortunately, the men who were arrested could be facing charges for trying to elude police in addition to other charges. These types of criminal charges can carry potentially serious consequences, such as many months of incarceration and hefty fines. Those in Washington who are accused of criminal offenses have the right to speak with a lawyer. An experienced criminal defense attorney can protect personal rights and work to obtain a favorable outcome.
