Teens taken into custody after alleged carjackings

On Behalf of | Mar 14, 2024 | Juvenile offenses |

Juvenile crime in Washington seems to be on the rise. Many teens will rebel at some point, but it is unfortunate when acts of rebellion turn into criminal activity. However, one bad decision at such a young age should not have to ruin a person’s entire life.

Juveniles arrested

Three juveniles in Seattle were arrested and taken into custody after police said they attempted several carjackings. Reports said the teens attempted three separate carjackings in the Alki neighborhood. Police said the first incident happened in the 2800 block of Alki Avenue Southwest as a man unlocked his car and was opening the door. The teens allegedly approached in an SUV, and two boys threatened the man with a gun and demanded his vehicle. Reports said the teens fled after the man locked his car and ran off.

In the second attempted carjacking, police said a woman was sitting in her vehicle when one of the teens showed a gun while knocking on her window. The third attempted carjacking reportedly happened on Beach Drive Southwest. A man and woman had their keys and cellphones stolen by the teens, authorities said. Police said they apprehended the boys after a chase. Officers said a 16-year-old boy and two 14-year-old boys were arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, robbery and attempting to elude.
